Hello! My name is Shayne Hazell! I have a wide arrange of talents including : Videography, Video Editing, Audio Recording and Editing, VFX Compositing and Editing, 3D Modelling, 3D Environment Creation and above all, having fun!
I've been on two feature films as a Grip and Camera Apprentice!

XOTO - TIFF Event
Sheridan College
September 10th 2022
Sheridan College reached out to me after the course was over and was interested in using my level that I made as an Art Direction student at a TIFF event in Toronto called XOTO.
My level was used as a backdrop to show off Virtual Production to Hundreds of guests and showcase what the technology is capable of!
My duties included:

Making the level in Unreal Engine during the course

Computer Operator at the event

Hit the record button and yelled action for the guests to shoot their video

Hiding objects in the level when bigger groups arrived

Entering email or giving access to QR code so guests can share on social media

Micro Credential - Virtual Production
May 2022 - August 2022
I was enrolled into the Art Direction stream for Unreal Engine / Virtual Production .
We learned the inner workings of Unreal Engine 5 and how to use it in a production setting, with a giant simulated production at the end.
We also learned about the LED Wall, how cameras and lighting works on it, what consists of a good scene and much more.

We learned how to use a green screen and how to properly incorporate it.
I learned how to create my own 3D assets for use in Unreal Engine and 3D Modelling software.
I learned how to composite images onto each other and with footage shot in front of a green screen.
I also worked with the Fanshawe Fashion students to create individual Artist interviews that was shown at their big 2020 - 2021 Showcase.
Camera Trainee

Feature Film - Were All in This Together
July 2020 - August 2020
Assisted the Camera team on an indie film titled ''We Are All in This Together". My Job included:
-
Setting up camera equipment
-
Making sure the team is supplied with batteries and that they are constantly charging
-
Hands on experience with motor head and Remote control unit for the camera
-
Assisting the 1st and 2nd AC where needed, including: adding and removing camera gear, getting the correct size lenses and replacing them / mounting it to the camera, reloading the camera with a new card and giving the used card to the DIT.

Setting up Video Village for Producers, Directors and Etc. Loading and unloading gear off the Camera Truck.

Helping out DIT when needed (setting up receivers and cabling them) and helping wherever or whenever something was needed (getting water, food etc for the team)

Feature Film - Night Raiders

I learned various skills and aspects about the Grip department and Camera department, including:
• Shadowed several grip crew members and the camera team
• Learned how a camera trainee operates and what is expected of them
• Taught how to properly care for equipment
• Experienced how a set works and how to interact with other departments
• Experienced driving to and shooting at various locations
• Experienced harsh weather conditions and filming in them
• Learned aspects of the industry that school doesn't truly replicate

Broadcasting TV and Communications
2016 - 2018
I was enrolled at Mohawk College for TV Broadcasting and Communications. I learned a lot about the Broadcast TV world. I learned a lot of the fundamentals of TV & Film during this course. I was the Technical Producer for our weekly college news show. I also was a Host, camera operated, helped with script writing and Audio work. Unfortunately I left early to pursue my passion of film making and got accepted into Sheridan College for Advanced TV and Film.
Mohawk College
Radio Broadcasting
2014 - 2016
I was enrolled at Mohawk College for Radio Broadcasting and Communications. This was my first passion, to become a radio host!
I learned how to use multiple radio systems and audio devices. I also hosted multiple college radio shows, including an internet radio show hosted by our team of 5 students and my show on 101.5 The Hawk FM which was a two host show where we played indie rock music and had trivia of what happened on the day of the show.

The program that started it all! I took a General Arts & Science course because I didn't know what I wanted to do after High School.
I learned all the basic 101 courses. I thought I would include this because without the program; I never would have figured out what my passion actually was!
